What albums are in heavy rotation for you right now?
I get to listen to a lot of, primarily UK, indie music in the office. However, due to diversity of tastes, the rule for the office jukebox is no queuing whole albums. Aside from lengthy dance mixes, the only whole album on my personal digital audio player is "For Every Punk Bitch & Arsehole", a sampler compilation of the shouty all-girl Chinese rock group Hang On The Box put out by Cherry Red in 2003.
I don't subscribe to any magazine. However, since I visit a newsagent pretty much every day, there are a few things I buy with enough regularity that they may as well be subscriptions.
WIRED. I first found this when looking for a copy of Mondo 2000 in a London comics shop. This was one of the early issues, and I bought it largely because there was a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog on the cover. How early was it? Well the letters page had a letter asking Wired why it wasn't covering the new "world wide web" pages available to Internet users, and suggesting perhaps Wired itself should think about setting up a website. Ironically, given the content it puts online, it's one of the few magazines that can't bear to throw in the recycling bin. I have several boxes, probably future ebay fodder if you're interested.
Men's Health. I don't really read it, but rather it functions like a big Post-It note reminding me to cut out the junk food and get some bloody exercise. I used to just pile them up, unread, near my bed - with the intention I would one-day get around to changing my life. Once, while showing a girl around my flat, I managed to knock over the pile causing my floor to be carpeted in black and white photos of ripped male torsos seconds before she entered. I only keep a single copy around since then.
Mixmag. Mixmag mix CDs are usually great.
